CMMC is the U.S. Department of Defense's program for certifying that defense contractors protect sensitive government information to a required cybersecurity standard.
What is CMMC?
CMMC applies to the Defense Industrial Base — companies that handle Federal Contract Information (FCI) or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). It defines tiered levels, with Level 2 built on the 110 controls of NIST SP 800-171 and typically requiring a third-party (C3PAO) assessment. As CMMC phases into contracts, certification becomes a gate to bidding on covered DoD work.
Why It Matters
Without the right CMMC level, a contractor can be locked out of DoD contracts. Readiness traditionally takes months of control implementation, documentation, and evidence collection.
How Advisedly Helps
Advisedly automates CMMC readiness — AI-drafted control narratives (human-reviewed), SPRS scoring, a living SSP, and POA&M management — so the work that usually takes months is continuously maintained. See your gaps free.
